Two daredevils have successfully crossed the face of Victoria Falls, on a slackline.

Lukas Irmler from Germany and Reinhard Kleindl from Austria set a world-first by slacklining 100-metres across Victoria Falls. Crossing the falls amidst the distraction of thundering spray on a slippery line was just one of the challenges they faced. Another was getting permission to do the stunt, which took several months of negotiation.

After a few attempts, both successfully completed the crossing without having to rely on their safety cords.

Mr Irmler said, ‘Here you have a lot of spray, a lot of water in the air, floating beside you, splashing your face and it’s intimidating on the one side but also distracting. You need to have a clear visual view of the environment, you need to be focussed on the anchor point to the very end you want to walk to and not getting distracted by a lot of water crashing by the side, which is very hard mentally.’
