Time travel and welcome New Year twice in one night

Posted by Imogen Searra on 20 November 2018

If experiencing New Year’s twice in one night sounds like nothing more than a fantasy, you’re in for a surprise. Crystal AirCruises is giving travelers the opportunity to celebrate New Years in two of the world’s party capitals: Tokyo and Las Vegas. This unique trip will ultimately take travelers “back in time” for an experience unlike any other. The Crystal AirCruises itinerary will cross over more than one time zone to achieve this.

First stop: Tokyo, Japan

Flying out of Hong Kong, the week-long trip will begin in Tokyo. The duration of the trip allows guests ample time to explore each city, before and after each celebration. In Tokyo, guests will stay at the Hilton Tokyo Odaiba along the city’s waterfront, and will welcome in the New Year with an elaborate dinner party at the Hilton Tokyo Bay. Following this will be a traditional Sumo wrestling demonstration, capping off the evening with a firework display over Tokyo Disneyland.

Party-goers will then board the private custom Crystal Skye Boeing 777-200LR to begin their time-travel journey. The aircraft is equipped with 88 lie-flat beds and Bose noise-cancelling headphones, perfect for getting some shut-eye before the next round of celebrations.

Additionally, the aircraft has in-flight entertainment systems – 24-inch HD monitors loaded with a music library and on-demand programming. Free global Wi-Fi is also available on the flight. The Crystal Skye aircraft also boasts a bar and lounge separate to the main cabin with a seating area, executive chef and “Skye Butlers”.

Second stop: Las Vegas, Nevada

Once guests land in Sin City, the second round of festivities begins. After a fireworks show above The Strip, the party will continue at Caesars Palace Hotel, where the guests will be staying – for another New Year’s Eve dinner party. Then ring in the new year again, champagne all round and a chance to say “it was so nice, you had to do it twice”. On 2 January, guests will be treated to seats at the Céline Dion concert at the famous Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

The cost of the trip totals $26,000 (R365,440.40) per person for the round-trip from Hong Kong. During “free-time” periods before and after each countdown, a Crystal concierge will be around helping guests plan their itinerary. This trip gives guests a chance to time travel, and do something unimaginable.
