Yesterday’s cold front brought snow to Sutherland in the Nothern Cape’s Karoo areas as well as some high-lying areas in the Western Cape.
Rogge Cloof, a private estate in Sutherland, posted some photos of the snow that blanketed the ground, as well as a video herd of eland and a springbok standing in the snow – quite a stark contrast to typical videos and photos of eland and springbok on the desert sands of the Kalahari.
Although there was no low-level (accessible) snow reported near Ceres, The Matroosberg 4×4 trail near the town was covered in snow this morning.
The Swartberg Pass in the Little Karoo also received a fair amount of snow.
