Watch: Elephant charges car in Kruger
A couple visiting the Kruger National Park had a close encounter with a large elephant when the animal quickly switched from peacefully grazing to charging their car. The driver began to reverse the car, but it had been raining and the gravel road was slippery, making the getaway vehicle’s task more tricky.
According to comments on YouTube, ‘This elephant was feeding next to the road and suddenly decided to charge the vehicle closest to him. It had been raining so the narrow gravel road was extremely slippery which made reversing a difficult task. Especially with a 5-tonne elephant charging at you! When I decided to stop filming (but the camera still rolling) and look behind me (as I’m trying to stay on the road while reversing), the elephant stopped. Fortunately there were no cars behind us. Luckily my partner kept filming with my second camera. We both sat in silence as the Elephant moved off, knowing how lucky we were to survive this.’
