Turkish Airlines makes emergency landing at O R Tambo
Turkish Airlines flight TK045 en route from Cape Town to Istanbul had to make an emergency landing at O R Tambo International Airport on Thursday 2 January 2019.
According to EWN, there was an issue with the plane’s landing gear. The issue was first noticed after the plane took off.
For two hours the plane entered into a holding pattern over Robben Island, according to ENCA. The decision was then made to land the plane at O R Tambo International Airport.
According to IOL, the landing gear failed to retract. The plane was diverted to O R Tambo due to the large size of the runway and landed safely.
