SANParks will open up private driving routes within the Garden Route National for the third year in a row. Members of the public who join the 4×4 adventure will be guided by SANParks’ Honorary Rangers from the Wilderness Region on the ‘Road Less Travelled’ experience.
According to Frances Feig, Chairman of the SANParks Honorary Rangers, Wilderness Region ‘this year there are three options participants can select, all available for two days. Each route leads through the National Park’s unique dramatic landscape of indigenous forest, spectacular views and fynbos.’
The routes are expected to take participants along ‘roads less travelled’ through Karatara Forest, Windmeulnek to Platbos and Goudveld Forest, where they can enjoy the ‘spectacular views of the Outeniqua Mountains’ during the drive. All routes traverse an existing footprint.
The event is scheduled for 2 – 3 May 2020 and leaves from the SANParks Island Lake Day Visitors’ Picnic area.
SANParks says that the annual feature, which was extremely popular in 2017 and 2018, is fast becoming a ‘must-do on the Garden Route events calendar’.
