In a radio interview with Moneyweb, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, Minister of Home Affairs said that unabridged birth certificate for children travelling into the country will no longer be required.

According to Tourism Update, an official announcement of the removal of this law will happen next week. In the interview, Dr Motsoaledi said that foreign travellers to South Africa will not need a copy of their children’s unabridged birth certificates.

‘Not at all. We have given the instruction that it is no longer wanted. You don’t have to carry it. You don’t have to produce it.’

Next month, South Africa will be introducing an e-visa system. President Cyril Ramaphosa visited the Department of Home Affairs in Pretoria on Friday 4 October to make the announcement, according to the Daily Maverick.
