On 14 and 15 December, the world witnessed the marvel of the biggest and brightest meteor shower of the year, with stargazers sighting up to 100 meteors per hour.

🌠 The thing about my beloved #PacificNorthwest is that we tend to miss out on any celestial event outside of summer, and last night’s Geminid meteor shower was no exception: overcast skies all across Western Washington precluded any hope of seeing the meteor shower this year — so here’s a consolation for all my PNW friends (and/or those who decided to sleep in): the Geminids during a rare clear night exactly one year ago. Shot the Geminids meteor shower on Thursday night at Red Rock Canyon State Park. Some parts may be mistaken for another planet. 😁 My first meteor shower I’ve shot. I captured 8 in my first comp over almost 2 hours. Stargazing was great just looking up and seeing a meteor every few minutes. There was one I saw that was just amazing and 5x bigger and brighter than the others and left what looked like a smoke trail behind.
