A new road currently being built in Zimbabwe will provide the shortest route from Harare to Binga and Victoria Falls and reduce the journey by over 200km. Expected to be completed by mid-2019, the Karoi-Binga road will directly link the Matabeleland north and Mashonaland west provinces.
At the moment, travellers going to Victoria Falls from Harare can only go there via Bulawayo, making it a 10-hour roadtrip of over 800km.
The new road is expected to increase international tourism to Victoria Falls, Binga and Matusadona National Park. Bumi Hills and the Kariba Dam are also some of the tourist attractions that lie along the route of Karoi-Binga road.
According to the Tourism Update, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa says the District Development Fund is spearheading the project.
