As people are self-isolating and are being quarantined during the coronavirus pandemic, livestreams have surged in popularity.
There are museums giving virtual tours and virtual walks through magnificent national parks guided by rangers. Now there’s another livestream to entertain and enthral: you can stream the Northern Lights straight from a webcam in Churchill, Manitoba, Canada.
‘Welcome to nature’s most amazing light show,’ the feed’s description says. ‘Located at the Churchill Northern Studies Center in Churchill, Manitoba, this live cam is located directly underneath the aurora oval — one of the best places on earth to watch the aurora borealis, the spectacular atmospheric phenomenon better known as the Northern Lights.’
The page on which the feed is located also lets people know that late winter and early spring (the Northern Hemisphere is experiencing spring right now) are among the best times to view the aurora here.
