The Kruger National Park closed a number of roads in the park yesterday evening because of the rainfall in the area and has released an update on road closures this morning, 11 December at 10am.
Roads that are currently closed in the Phalaborwa area include all gravel roads on the Phalaborwa section, the S51 Sable Dam loop, S131, all management roads (category D roads).
The Park also announced that the Sable Hide as well as the road to Sable Hide are both closed and cautioned guests not to spend the night in the hide.
In the Lower Sabie area road closures include the S79, S21, S128, S29 (to Mlondozi picnic site only), S129, S122. All roads apart from S30 and S29 between the high water bridge and H10.
All the gravel roads at Houtboschrand are closed, namely, the S39, S127,S147, S89 & S90.
Balule’s guests can still exit across the low water bridge over Olifants, however, SANParks says that it will keep an eye on the situation, as it expects the Olifants River to ‘rise because of the rain on the Highveld’.

All roads near the Crocodile Bridge remain open but the situation will be reassessed tomorrow.
The park says that ‘due to the lack of connectivity in some sections, not all reports are coming through to the Skukuza office.’
Other affected areas include:
‘Pretoriuskop all gravel roads closed.
Nwanetsi: S100 S41 S37 closed
Tsokwane: S34 S35 S33 closed
LetabaLET: gravel roads closed
Kingfisherspruit: S39 only with restrictions on S140 to Talamati and Imbali staff and guests.’
