From 11 July 2019, Mango Airlines will operate two flights a day between Nelson Mandela Bay’s Port Elizabeth Airport and Lanseria International Airport aboard the Boeing 737-800 series.
The service is expected to accommodate visiting families and relatives, business and leisure travellers originating around Greater Johannesburg, the Gauteng province, and beyond. Lanseria International Airport offers a gateway to the North, which cover the cradle of humankind and Sun City.
This move by Mango is also a bid to expand and diversify Port Elizabeth’s scope as a destination with many prospects, hoping to merge the best of the city’s industry and lifestyle offerings.
Nelson Mandela Bay refers to the coastline of Port Elizabeth and surrounds and is great for family-friendly holidays in the sun!
From Monday through to Sunday, you’ll be able to catch these flights:
Lanseria to Nelson Mandela Bay
– 8.40am – 10.20am (flight 575)
– 3.45pm – 5.25pm (flight 591)
Nelson Mandela Bay to Lanseria
– 10.55am – 12.35pm (flight 576)
– 6pm – 7.40pm (flight 592)
The addition of a new destination is a result of a collaborative airlift work between the City, Eastern Cape Development Corporation, Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber, Lanseria International Airport and Airports Company South Africa (Acsa). The route is operated by Mango Airlines to offer travellers an alternative point linking the Gauteng province with Nelson Mandela Bay.
‘We are expecting that the route will capture a combination of business and leisure travellers originating from the Southern and Northern parts of Johannesburg, the wider Gauteng province and beyond,’ said Marelize Labuschagne, acting CEO at Mango Airlines. ‘Port Elizabeth is the gateway to the Garden Route and a highly populated tourist area so we are expecting this to be a popular network choice.’
‘This route is a great opportunity to showcase the wonderful tourism experiences and products in the Eastern Cape and Nelson Mandela Bay areas with the region growing as an ocean-safari destination,’ added South African Tourism Acting CEO Sthembiso Dlamini.
