Nestlé in Japan is launching paper packaging for it’s famous KitKat chocolate, that can be turned into origami.
The decision to switch to paper is good news for the environment. The brand will no longer be using plastic packaging for its sweet treats. In April 2018, the company said in a statement that it will make 100% of its packaging reusable or recyclable by 2025.
Nestle is the world’s largest producer of packaged food.
In addition to this, the company has also invented the ‘world’s first’ recyclable paper candy wrapper and the company has identified a technique to sweeten sugar-free chocolates by using the entire cocoa bean, reports Insider.
Nestlé is sticking to its word by discontinuing plastic packaging on some KitKat products in Japan. By September the company will be implementing the matte paper on five of its larger KitKat products, according to Insider.
