From 14-28 December, you could gain free entry into the Pretoria Zoo and market if you take the Gautrain to Pretoria Station.
The summer holidays are here and Pretoria Zoo and the Gautrain are teaming up to make sure that you and the kids don’t get cabin fever this festive season.
How it works
Purchase your Gautrain ticket and make sure your final destination is the Pretoria train station.
Promoters based at the station will issue special wristbands which will grant Gautrain riders access to the National Zoological Gardens. Prospective visitors can then take the Gautrain bus to the zoo at a cost of only R1.
During this period, the zoo will be hosting a market offering a variety of foods, craft beers and gins, as well as arts and crafts.
There’ll be cool activities and prizes to be won as well. ‘There will be an immersive gaming experience with Xbox and Playstation…one lucky visitor stands to win an Xbox valued at R8,999,’ said Marcel Singh of the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI). ‘Spa treatments priced at a very attractive R20 will be on offer by Bakwena Spa at the top of the cableway which boasts the best view of the City of Tshwane.’
From 18-19 December the Department of Tourism will also be hosting an exhibition at the zoo.
