La Cité du Vin, meaning ‘The City of Wine’, is the epitome of French culture. Located in Bordeaux, this theme-park-meets-museum is the stuff of wine lovers’ dreams.
The City of Wine has been described as the flagship of Bordeaux wine tourism and the symbol of the city. The 10-storey theme park showcases the world of wine.
From learning about the history of civilisation, different vineyards across the world, encountering virtual professors, to learning about wines through the millennia and cultures, there is something for all wine-lovers to enjoy.
Some of the attractions include workshops that can seat up to 250 people, as well as insightful wine-tasting sessions.
There is the option to partake in wine workshops, like a sensorial introduction to wine-tasting.
You can also make your way to The Belvedere, a high point of a visit, for panoramic views of Bordeaux. One can enjoy a glass of some of the world’s finest wine, while taking in the view of this magnificent city.
For people travelling with children, there are carefully selected grape juices for them to sample and enjoy too. For those feeling peckish, there is a dining area to enjoy delicious food either before or after your visit.
La Cité du Vin opens at 10 am and closes at 7 pm. For information on daily activities, visit the website here.
Entrance on a combined ticket will cost €24 (R392).
