Emirates is offering a unique service to travellers in Dubai who are flying with the airline out of the Dubai International airport. This service is offered across all ticket classes, including economy.
Known as ‘Home Check-in’, it allows customers to check in for their flights, including baggage handling, from anywhere in Dubai.
You’ll need to request the service 12 hours or more prior to your flight’s departure and specify your preferred location within the city. This could be your home, hotel room or office. An Emirates employee will meet you there between seven and 48 hours before your flight.
The check-in agent will then check you in, weigh and tag your bags and issue you with a boarding pass. Your luggage will be transported to the airport for you ahead of the flight and all you’ll need to do is arrive at the airport with your boarding pass and passport.
The services costs AED 350 (about R1,350) and can be booked via emirates.com.
On the other end of the scale from a human check-in service, airlines like Lufthansa will email or text your boarding pass to you 23 hours before your flight without you having to do anything (only available for those living in the within the Schengen Area in Europe). American airline Delta offers a similar service via its app too.
