Mango Airlines and Lanseria International Airport have launched an additional direct flight from Johannesburg to Zanzibar this month, making it even more convenient for South Africans to jet off to the tropical island.

The airline already operates a route from O.R Tambo International Airport to the island’s capital. It is the only carrier to offer a direct flight from South Africa to Zanzibar.
Until now, travellers from Cape Town and Durban have had to contend with the logistics of an early start at O.R Tambo – the flight leaves at 7am.

The new Lanseria route is designed to allow more time for those travelling from Cape Town and Durban to catch it as a connecting flight.
The Lanseria flight is estimated to depart on a Saturday at 9.50am and arrive in Zanzibar at 2.15pm.
The return flight leaves the island on a Saturday at 3.05pm and lands in Lanseria at 6.05pm.
The flights will be scheduled according to the seasonal demand.
Currently, a return ticket from Lanseria International Airport to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport in Zanzibar city is R8,600.
