The number of confirmed coronavirus infections in South Africa has increased to 51 according to a statement released by Health Minister Zweli Mkhize on Sunday 15 March.
The Minister and Deputy Minister of Health held an urgent National Health Council meeting with the Provincial MECs and HODs for Health, with discussions taking place surrounding the latest situational analysis of each province as more cases of COVID-19 are being confirmed.
The new cases continue to be confirmed in South Africans who are returning to the country after overseas travel.
According to the statement, the tally of new cases read as follows.
To help spread awareness surrounding the virus, the government has created a website, sacoronavirus.co.za that functions as a portal to official government statements, South African Covid-19 statistics, preventative tips, and information about the virus such as symptoms and treatments.
In addition to the website, the government has also created a WhatsApp group to help the general public stay informed on the COVID-19 virus. To join the support line simply text “Hi” to 0600 123 456.
