A 59-year-old Australian man was killed in the Huab River, Kunene region of Namibia on Thursday morning, 7 November.
He was apart from a group of tourists camping in the area at the time of the incident.
The Ministry of Environment and Tourism Namibia confirmed the sad event in a Facebook post. According to the post the area where the group were camping was not a designated camping site.
‘The Ministry wishes to reiterate our call to our very welcome tourists to always be cautious and adhere to the rules and regulations put in place for their safety.
‘Finally, we wish to express our sincere condolences to the bereaved family and friends of the deceased,’ said the post.
