4. Take a hike up Le Pouce
Le Pouce (or The Thumb) is the third-highest peak in Mauritius, but the hike is manageable even for novice hikers. The view from the top is breath-taking and offers you unrivalled views of the nearby Moka range of mountains.

5. Visit the Chateau Labourdonnais for an extraordinary rum-making experience
The Chateau Labourdonnais has been in the Wiehe family for almost two centuries. Today, visitors to the refurbished estate can take a stroll through its picture-perfect gardens, shop at its gift store or nursery, or take in a rum-making class at its on-site distillery (which has won medals for its rums).

7. Feel like Alice in Wonderland, at the Curious Corner of Chamarel
The Curious Corner of Chamarel is an extraordinary gallery, featuring interactive optical illusions and games that will make you feel like you’ve dived down a Wonderland rabbit-hole. The gallery’s garden café is a great spot for tea (whether you’re a mad hatter, or not).
