6.1 magnitude earthquake shakes Thailand
The United States Geological Survey reported a shallow earthquake hit northwest Laos near the border of Thailand at 6:50 am local time on Thursday 21 November.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, despite the earthquake being quite powerful. The quake was felt 700km away in Bangkok, Thailand’s capital city and in Vietnam’s capital, Hanoi.
Earlier this month, an earthquake of 7.4 struck in the Molucca Sea between the Indonesian provinces of North Sulawesi and North Maluku triggering a risk of a tsunami in nearby areas.
