Just about every little girl, teenager, woman and mom has an idea of what the iconic Barbie doll’s Malibu Dreamhouse looks like.
However, it doesn’t just come in plastic and it really is fantastic.
Situated in Malibu, California and overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the life-size Barbie Malibu Dreamhouse – complete with pink slide into the pool – can be booked on Airbnb on 23 October 23 at 11 a.m. PDT.
In celebration of Barbie brand’s 60th anniversary, one guest can make the booking and can bring up to three friends for a very exclusive two-night stay, which only costs $60 (about R880) a night (excluding taxes and fees).
The two-bedroom, two-bathroom Dreamhouse features a personal cinema, infinity pool, outdoor meditation zone and panoramic ocean views, according to an Airbnb press release.
The one-time reservation will take place from Sunday, 27 October to Tuesday, 29 October and Mattell and Airbnb have organised some inspirational entertainment for the guests, including, Ibtihaj Muhammad, world-class fencing champion and inspirational role model (who even has her own Barbie Shero doll!), who will give guests one-on-one fencing lessons. Pilot and aerospace engineer Jill Meyers will take guests on a behind-the-scenes tour of Columbia Memorial Space Center to encourage them to aim for the stars.
According to Airbnb, ‘Because Barbie is always a little glam, celebrity hairstylist and girl boss Jen Atkin will stop by for hair makeovers’ and local chef Gina Clarke-Helm will provide a cooking lesson in Barbie’s kitchen.
To celebrate this unique offering, Airbnb will make a donation to The Barbie Dream Gap Project GoFundMe initiative, which aims to help level the playing field for young women so they can follow their dreams.
