Travelling with pets can be a gruelling experience. Sometimes, pet owners have to wait for hours in an airport with no easily accessible place for their animals to do their business. Now, a Japanese airport has built ‘canine bathrooms’.
Osaka International Airport, also known as Itami airport, decided to introduce the canine facility after receiving requests from passengers with pets and from airline officials complaining of accidents on their aircraft, according to Japan Times. The dog bathrooms officially opened today, 13 February. However, there will be designated operating hours, daily from 5:30 am to 10 pm.
‘We hope (the introduction) will lead to stress reduction by allowing dogs, along with their owners, to go to the toilet before boarding,’ said Kansai Airports in a statement.
Some other airports have already built similar facilities, like the ‘Service Animal Relief Area’ at the Atlanta airport in the US.
