A panel of a Mango plane fell off during a flight from Cape Town International to O R Tambo International. The airline has stated that while the incident did occur, passengers’ safety was in no way compromised.
According to Traveller24, the plane was en route to Joburg with the flight path crossing over Stellenbosch when the panel detached from the body of the aircraft.
Mango Spokesperson Sergio dos Santos spoke to Traveller24 and said that ‘a panel, a side wing to body fairing, did detach from the body of one of our aircraft.’
‘We can assure you that the loss of this panel fairing did not pose a safety risk to the flight. We are in the process of investigating the occurrence and apart from submitting the initial report to the Civil Aviation Authority we will be sharing all subsequent evidence and findings with them once the investigation is finalised.’
