SANParks appeals for water donations in Graaff-Reinet

SANParks has appealed to any travellers making their way to or passing through Graaff-Reinet to drop off water at the Camdeboo National Park offices.

The offices are locate on the N9, 5km from Graaff-Reinet toward Middelburg. Staff members from Camdeboo National Park are currently proving water to communities near the park.

Residents of Graaff-Reinet have been spotted collecting water from drains in 37°C weather. Graaff-Reinet has been suffering from a terrible drought. According to the Advertiser, over 70 residents reported that they had little to no running water on Monday 16 September.

A main water supply pipe in the Wolwas district has been leaking since February, forming a dam, with stagnant water running back into the supply. The water supply remains unsafe for human consumption, so any water donation will be of great help.
