The North Pole is a mysterious destination. Being so remote, the arctic is not a place that many people can tick off their bucket lists.
A trip to Santa Claus’ hometown has just been made super-luxurious, with a pop-up of ten heated ‘igloo’ pods. To make it even more alluring, the luxury accommodation is fitted with glass dome roofs. This allows you to observe the Northern Lights from the comfort of your bed – of course.
The pods will be set up in April 2020 for one month.
Speaking to CNN Travel, Janne Honkanen, founder and CEO of travel company Luxury Action said: ‘I wanted to create a more comfortable way to experience the North Pole as it is, by bringing cozy facilities to extreme conditions.’
A stay in one of these luxury pods will set you back £83,000 (about R1,5-million). This includes an en-suite bathroom, an on-site manager, a wilderness survival guide, chef and superb security. All the equipment needed to brace the extreme conditions will also be provided.
The pods are also portable, in case of a sudden weather change and the need to leave the area swiftly.
‘We provide all of the equipment,’ Honkanen says. ‘But you definitely need to have the spirit of an explorer or scientist.’
