Watching an old cult classic outdoors with friends on a balmy summer evening is definitely a great way to pass the time. However, although there are a number of venues in South Africa that host outdoor movie nights in the warmer months, we’ve never heard of one quite like this before…
This year at the Volente Beach Resort on the shores of Lake Travis in Texas, moviegoers will be able to watch the iconic 1975 movie Jaws on the big screen, all while floating on the lake suspended by inner tubes, with their feet dangling freely over the water. Happening for the fifth year running, ‘Jaws on the Water’ will be taking place every Saturday from 8 June until 17 August (except for 6 July).
According to a commenter on Facebook, ‘They even hire ‘professionals’ to swim underneath the water during certain scenes, as part of the experience.’ The hired scuba divers make their way under the floating bodies and ‘pinch you and use red lights to freak you out.’
The Lake Travis website states, ‘Tickets to these On the Water shows include full access to Volente Beach attractions (Lazy Lagoon, The Sidewinder, the water slides and more), keepsake shark-ified inner tube, fireworks display and the thrilling, one-of-a-kind experience of watching cinema’s greatest great whites with your feet dangling dangerously and deliciously in the water.’
