Joburg remains Africa’s most popular urban destination for the fifth consecutive year as shown by a breakdown of the index by travel news site Tourism Update. The index assesses the influx of visitors to over a hundred global destinations in the previous year. Cape Town and Polokwane reportedly ranked third and sixth respectively when it came to the highest overnight visitor expenditure, with the former still bringing in the greatest numbers for long-haul visitors to the country.
