Tourists are expected to flock to Parys for the third annual Free State Madeira Flower Festival based on the annual Madeira Flower Festival held on the Portugese speaking island. The streets of Parys will once again be filled with colour, as over 200,000 blooms will be used in floral floats, on choreographed performers, and giant flower puppets on 7 and 8 December.

This two-day festival aims to stimulate the local flower industry. Festivities include a kilometre-long floral procession with inspired floats of the Big Five, created using thousands of blossoms from local flower farms. A lifestyle exhibition platform with flower carpet exhibits and an entertainment arena will be available on both days.
The flower carpets are made by Madeiran flower artists and will celebrate the lives of the iconic South African leaders Nelson Mandela and Albertina Sisulu.
Entrance for the festival is free.
The event is organised by the Free State Government and the Free State Gambling, Liquor and Tourism Authority. Form more information visit freestateflowerfestival.co.za
