British airline easyJet partnered with mobile tech company Travelport Digital to design Look&Book, which allows users to upload photos of places that they’re curious about to a server via the app. The application uses image recognition technology by searching through a database of photos to find the exact destination and other destinations that resemble the same scene.
Once it’s found a match, it will identify the place and then the application gives you the option to book a flights from your location, with options of departure and return dates. When you’re satisfied with those details, you can proceed to book a trip, just like that!
At the moment, the application is said to only be limited to identifying about 1000 European destination and only works in tandem with Instagram but easyJet says that there’s potential to connect to other picture-sharing apps like Snapchat and Pinterest in future.
