Keen travellers, listen up: this is one competition you don’t want to miss.

What is it that really makes a place come alive? For me, it’s the particular quirks and idiosyncrasies that take you by surprise. Stinky cheeses, hidden mountain paths, a charming turn of phrase – whatever the special qualities of a country are, you really only get to experience them through contact with the local people. That’s why ‘A SWISS Welcome’ is something special.

SWISS is giving travellers from 17 countries around the world a chance to get to know Switzerland with local hosts – all you have to do is make a one-minute video and upload it to their website. Realistically, I’m thinking this will take you an absolute maximum of 12 minutes. That’s about as long as it takes to make two omelettes, or watch three music videos, or scroll past 36 averagely-interesting posts on your Facebook feed. If you don’t think taking a gamble on a trip to Switzerland is a better use of your time – well, I don’t know what to tell you.
The competition is open from now until 30th November 2015, and you can enter at A SWISS Welcome. If you need a bit more inspiration, watch the official video below.
