The highest outdoor sky deck in the Western Hemisphere will open in New York City in March 2020. This view point, called Edge, is busy being built at the Hudson Yards shopping centre and will have perfect views of the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, and the rest of New York’s skyline. With its 18.5m2 glass floor, visitors will get a spectacular bird’s-eye-view.
John Kelly, the vice president of design and construction of the firm in charge of this structure, told Condé Nast Traveler, ‘It probably sounds corny, but it’s a fresh look. It’s 700m2 of unenclosed outdoor space. It’s not walking around the structural core of a building where everything is limited. It’s like an outdoor plaza’.

Food and drink will be available at the sky deck and on its official website, the shopping centre invites patrons to ‘look 100 stories down from the thrilling glass floor, lean out over the city on angled glass walls and sip champagne in the sky.’

Jason Horkin, executive director of Hudson Yards experiences, said that there will be ‘lots of opportunity to move around and through the space without it feeling cramped and crowded, and like you’re fighting for a position to take a picture,’ Matador Network reports.
The experience will be open every day from 8:00 am until midnight. As tourists and locals alike are expected to flock to the Edge, tickets are already available online starting at 31 USD (R450) for general admission.
You can also get apremium admission that allows you to enter at any time that suits you on your chosen day, and includes a glass of champagne and a personalized photobook, for a lofty 90 USD (R1,300).
