Looking for something to do with the family? We’ve bundled a free ticket to the Cool Runnings toboggan park in Durbanville with over 10 000 Western Cape copies of the June issue of Getaway magazine (on shelves now). Our Art Director decided to take up the offer and hit the hills with the kids in tow, or whooshing ahead as it turned out …
Tobogganing with kids: super charged or super chilled – you decide
It has to be one of the best Saturday mornings that I have spent with my children, it’s a rush no matter what speed you choose. If you are looking for a fun day out, Cool Running Toboggan Park in Durbanville Cape Town, should be at the top of your list. Once on your toboggan you enjoy a tranquil ride up the hill, pulled by a steady cable. I couldn’t help feeling like I was in a nature reserve, it’s quite and peaceful with a beautiful view, and you don’t have to concentrate on a thing until you are on top of the hill. Then its up to you: breakneck speed or a totter, no pressure either way, but once you have had one ride, you want to know just how fast you can go on your second.
Details
Children under the age of eight have to be escorted by an older friend or parent, but either way, every one of every age gets to be part of the fun.
Kiosk
The kiosk serves a menagerie of goodies and is fast and friendly. The cappuccinos come with my personal stamp of approval.
