The Garden Route is known for its sublime coastlines, warmer waters than Cape Town, the West Coast and diverse marine life. Of the many popular holiday destinations in the Garden Route, Knysna is close to the top of the list.
In addition to eating oysters, visiting Featherbed Nature Reserve and the many forested areas, why not explore one of the world’s top 50 beaches? Voted the 16th best beach in the world by Business Insider, Noetzie is a spectacular destination all-year around. Located 10 minutes outside of Knysna and 20 minutes from Plettenberg Bay, this remote beach is an idyllic break from the December rush.

Whether you’re looking to spend the day there or to stay a while, this quiet haven will help you unwind and recharge. The beautiful surroundings put visitors back in touch with Mother Nature, with all the comforts of home. The warmer Indian Ocean makes swimming a must-do daily activity. Rent out one of the five famous Noetzie Castles when you plan your next beachside holiday.
Although summer is always a perfect time to go on a beach holiday in South Africa, the best months to visit Noetzie are June and November. Migrating humpback whales can be spotted frolicking in the water right from the beach.
There is a dirt road leading to the Noetzie beach which is accessed off the N2. On some maps the access road is called the Hornless Road.
However long you’re planning on being in Noetzie, you’re in for an absolute treat. The warm waters, exquisite scenery and the quiet will help you to decompress.
