5 things to pack into your summer beach bag

Posted by Melanie van Zyl on 26 November 2013

The summer sun is coming out and there’s no better time to hit the beach. Remember to pack in these 5 nifty items.

1. The budget beach bag

You don’t need to spend a lot of cash on a great beach bag. This fabric bag from Woolworths has a lined interior so it’s easy to shake out the sand afterwards. It’s also big enough to carry your towel, book and a couple of coolies too. It also folds up into a pretty small package for travelling with from Joburg.

2. PowerTraveller UV monkey

Strap this neat little gadget to your bag – the purple colour indicator will tell you how dangerous the UV rays are. The colours are a little bit difficult to differentiate at first, but it’s easy to use.

3. Nivea protect and refresh invisible cooling mist

The newest Nivea sunscreen spray is an awesome product that’s easy to use and good enough for the SA sun. It  provides immediate protection and has a pleasurable cooling effect leaving your skin refreshed.

R149,99 for 200ml SPF50, available at most pharmacies and some grocery stores.

4. Sun Skin travel sunscreen

Now this is clever design. The main bottle holds the bulk of the sunscreen, but this CANSA approved Sun Skin product comes with four smaller bottles to decant into. This way, everyone in the family has their own bottle and little excuse to get burnt. Great for travelling with.

5. Luxury Woolies beach towel

It’s giant, luxuriously soft and brightly coloured. There isn’y much more you can ask of a beach towel. And it’s a lekker price too.
