It’s finally braai day tomorrow and king of the flames has named his ultimate piece of braai gear.
Potty for braais
National Braai Day founder and Getaway columnist Jan Braai named the No. 10 flat-bottomed potjie pot as his ultimate piece of braai gear.
‘I’m going through a phase of making a lot of food in potjies and my new book, Red Hot, reflects this. Various great meals such as braaied butternut soup, bobotie, chicken pie, Indian and Thai curries, apple tart and malva pudding can all made in a potjie over the fire.
As the No. 10 is flat-based, it travels well and you can use it on a gas stove in winter time when there is a hurricane outside.’
