Things to do with your leftover Easter chocolate

Too much of a good thing? Yes. Leftover Easter chocolate does happen. If you ever find yourself in the improbable position of having more chocolate in your possession than you are able to eat, here are your options.

What to do with your leftover Easter chocolate

 

1. Just try harder.

I bet Layla Ali could eat all that chocolate.

Have a glass of water. Are you sure-sure that eating this leftover Easter chocolate is beyond your capability as a human? I mean, life is about dreaming big.

 

2. Give it away

Maybe you’re a kind-hearted soul who likes to share their diabetes. There are plenty of people in the world who aren’t in the position to be bulk-buying Easter eggs, and spreading the sugary goodness around is a very friendly thing to do. If you’re not friendly but are eschewing chocolate in order to keep your dimensions vaguely aerodynamic, you could offer them to your least favourite people. It’s a win-win: they’ll think it’s a peace offering, you’re not tormented by surplus chocolate, AND you get to contribute to their untimely demise.

3. Make a chocolate sauce

If you tend more towards excess than charity, your Grinchy self could melt your leftover Easter chocolate with cream. Keep the temperature low enough and you won’t need a double-boiler – just stir. Having your chocolate in liquid form makes it much more user-friendly – have it on ice-cream, or in your coffee, or on waffles, or freeze it for later. (Look, we all know that you’re not going to freeze chocolate sauce. But if telling yourself that you’ll “keep it for a rainy day” makes you feel better, then go right ahead.)

4. Hot cross bun pudding

Do you happen to have too many hot cross buns? Are they a little stale? (I mean, really. It’s like you’re not even trying.) Luckily, you can pretend you did it on purpose by making this ridiculous dark chocolate hot cross bun bread and butter pudding.

5. Get fancy

Make Reuben Riffel’s springbok with chocolate-blueberry sauce. It really is quite genius.
