Top spot for breakfast: Peter’s House in Cape Town

Follow the white rabbit to Peter’s House: a new spot on Cape Town’s Kloof Nek Road that offers some seriously tasty breakfast.

Peter’s House, a new dining spot in Cape Town, pricked my ears as a great breakfast spot

My roller derby team, the Storm Riders of the Cape Town Rollergirls, had a photoshoot with the awesome Jon Meinking from ishotimages this past Saturday at 6am in the morning. After the shoot, the most important thing to do next was to have breakfast! Pepper Annarchy, one of our utility skaters, suggested Peter’s House. I’ve never been there before, so it seemed fitting to try out this restaurant.

Peter’s House is a little restaurant on Knoof Nek, right opposite the well-known Rafikis. It’s based on the story of Peter Rabbit, by one of my favourite authors as a child, Beatrix Potter. The decor is seriously cute, and you’ll spot an odd rabbit hanging out every time you glance across the room. They describe it as ‘Peter Rabbit meets Mad Hatter’. My favourite piece of decor is the crocheted unicorn.

They use fresh and locally sourced ingredients for the menu, and serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, freshly squeezed juices, coffee and cake. I had quite a lovely breakfast, the Peter’s Omelette, filled with pesto, cherry tomatoes, mozzorella cheese, toast, and of course, bacon. All the bacon! From what I know, they’re well-known for their waffles. So this just means that I need to revisit this place to have waffles, with bacon, of course.
