The Barefoot Café, Cintsa

Posted by Lisa Johnston on 27 June 2011

It’s barely a year old, but The Barefoot Café has already established itself as the most happening venue on the Cintsa coastline north of East London.

The chilled but vibey café is a mishmash of wild Mexican colours; a marriage of surfer chic and backpacker cool. Food is fresh and comprises mainly burgers, pizzas and sandwiches, although the blackboard specials keep the mix fresh and interesting, with anything from seafood to curries. A refreshing change for vegetarians is that they don’t have to take a culinary back seat. These cooks know a thing or two about nuts, pulses and all things veggie. The portions are always generous and the meals excellent value.

Even if you aren’t hungry, the bar is a great place to hang out and the café hosts regular events and parties.

Probably one of the best recommendations appears on their Facebook page, where one fan posted “˜The “hot sauce” was hot “¦ that stuff will kickstart a week-old corpse “¦ excellent music, food to die for and the best-looking hosts this side of the equator.’

The vibe is chilled and young at heart (although actual ages vary), so take off your shoes, step inside and leave your issues at the door.
