Opulent Living magazine has recently launched a sumptuous coffee-table book that showcases some of the finest accommodation in southern Africa. Opulent Living Volume 1 is a lavish, 296-page publication, richly illustrated with beautiful photography and a write-up on each of the properties as well as informative articles on the region.
The book concentrates on many of the best five-star accommodation in South Africa, but also offers a sprinkling of fine properties in Namibia, Zambia, Mozambique and Mauritius. Depicting luxury travel in southern Africa, the book looks at the experiences and people at some of the region’s top hotels and lodges. The spectacular land and seascapes as well as some of the region’s most famous game reserves come alive through the skillful writing of a dozen top journalists.
The book was the brainchild of German-born Barbara Lenhard and Florian Gast who, after several holidays in South Africa, were enchanted by country and captivated by its beauty. In 2009 they relocated to Cape Town to start their dream, a high-end coffee-table magazine, now transmogrified into book form.
Barbara and Florian have decided that 10 per cent of the profit from the sale of each book will be go to one of three charities. Anyone buying a book can register with a unique code online, and select either Streetsmart, EWT – Endangered Wildlife Trust, or mother2mother … to which the donation will be send.
Opulent Living Volume 1 is a available in South Africa at most major bookstores and retails for R589. Visit www.opulentliving.co.za for more details.
