There is no better way to wake up than to the not-so-distant wheeze-honk of the hippopotamus and the far-carrying cry of the Water Dikkop on the shores of Kariba. I get to experience this magical symphony quite regularly. I was born and raised in Harare, and my childhood trips to the most beautiful landscapes in Zimbabwe sparked my interest in photography and nature. I have only been overseas once in my life; a family trip to Scotland and England that was unforgettable. But it still doesn’t compare to a sunny trip away on the Mozambique coast, or a weekend sojourn to Hogsback in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. I am a local boy at heart and Africa is my home.
