Yep, this follow-me drone is awesome, but it also makes me a little scared
Things are moving quickly in the world of drone technology. With the latest model from Lily, all you need to do to get great footage, apparently, is throw it off a bridge.
Just chuck it off a bridge and see what happens.
With no remote and no drone flying skills necessary, the Lily Drone takes it upon itself (herself?) to capture your next adventure by tracking your motion and flying in front or behind you while you ski, bike, kayak, whatever. It’ll even land in your hand when you’re done.
And that’s great and all, but is anyone else thinking Skynet here?
The Lily camera drone.
I close my eyes and see laser system upgrades and tiny little cluster bombs. Cyberdyne Systems would definitely find a way to turn this little Lily into a gun-blazing terminator.
But I still want one.
The full tech specs are impressive although not mind-blowing. It’s waterproof, can chase at 40kmph, and shoots at 1080p/60fps, but can only manage 20mins flight time before recharging. It’s still in pre-order stage at this point, going for $499 plus shipping (and whatever customs duties get slapped on at the border…). Somewhat out of my budget right now, but I’d love to get my hands on one to play with.
