Lalibela in northern Ethiopia is one of the most mindboggling places you can visit in Africa. Like Egypt’s pyramids and Great Zimbabwe, it’s not quite clear how Lalibela’s rock-hewn churches were built. Legend has it that Saint George and the angels assisted with construction.
