10 cute Instagram pictures of the Cape dwarf chameleon

Posted by Elise Kirsten on 28 September 2018

We recently posted a piece on the release of 30 Knysna dwarf chameleons into the wild and then stumbled upon these cute images of another species of dwarf chameleon endemic to the Western Cape, the Cape dwarf chameleon.

They are native to a limited region in greater Cape Town and feed on insects using their tongue, which measures about twice the length of their body! Although they don’t have teeth, chameleons will occasionally ‘bite’ in defence and males may lock jaws and try wrestle one another off a branch.

Here are 10 cute images of these little lizard-like guys that we found on Instagram.
