Afro-Caribbean cuisine lands in the Mother City Posted by Ondela Mlandu on 5 December 2018 Tags:Afro-Caribbean, Cape Town restaurants, food Inspired by her childhood in St. Lucia, an island country in the West Indies, supermodel Mala Bryan has opened a new Afro-Caribbean restaurant in Cape Town. The Kwéyòl Restaurant and Bar is situated at the Botanik Social House, on Queen Victoria Street opposite the Company Gardens. With my favorite food in the whole wide world!! Green bananas!! And some plantains made an appearance too. Come over tonight @kweyolcapetown the kitchen is opened!! A post shared by Mala Bryan (@malabryan) on Dec 4, 2018 at 4:51am PST The Caribbean cuisine menu includes traditional side dishes such as Island Girl’s rice & beans and mains such as stewed oxtail and curried goat. Vegans and vegetarians are also in luck—the menu includes meals made from soya as well as curried chickpeas, to name a few. The sounds of reggae and calypso music accompanies diners as they indulge in signature tropical cocktails and virgin fruit punches at the bar. Stewed soya chucks. Yup another meatless main. Wonderful childhood memories of my Rastafarian uncle making this. This here was my first attempt at cooking it and got thumbs up from my tasters. I will try different spices with it but this one was delish! #vegan #vegetarian #caribbeanfood #kweyolcapetown #capetown #southafrica A post shared by Kwéyòl Cape Town (@kweyolcapetown) on Oct 30, 2018 at 11:16am PDT The newly-renovated venue has tropical jungle themes and colourful tables, giving guests a sense of an island experience. And the dining scene is heating up at the same pace as the #summerseason Our interested was definitely piqued as the soft launch of @kweyolcapetown hinted to a delightful & wonderful tropical vibe that one will not forget! #africaribbean #indoorjungle A post shared by SmokedPaprika (@smkdpaprika) on Dec 3, 2018 at 4:44am PST You may also like Related Posts Bolo polana with spiced coconut ice-cream 25 March 2020 The secret ingredient of this cake is potato, which adds both a creamy texture and... read more Peri-peri prawns with chilli butter 25 March 2020 This is the classic if you’re on the coast, served with fresh crusty bread and... read more Whole fish roasted in banana leaf with citrus-herb sauce 24 March 2020 This simple yet delicious recipe is a celebration of all things Mozambique.
