Afro-Caribbean cuisine lands in the Mother City

Inspired by her childhood in St. Lucia, an island country in the West Indies, supermodel Mala Bryan has opened a new Afro-Caribbean restaurant in Cape Town. The Kwéyòl Restaurant and Bar is situated at the Botanik Social House, on Queen Victoria Street opposite the Company Gardens.

The Caribbean cuisine menu includes traditional side dishes such as Island Girl’s rice & beans and mains such as stewed oxtail and curried goat. Vegans and vegetarians are also in luck—the menu includes meals made from soya as well as curried chickpeas, to name a few. The sounds of reggae and calypso music accompanies diners as they indulge in signature tropical cocktails and virgin fruit punches at the bar.

The newly-renovated venue has tropical jungle themes and colourful tables, giving guests a sense of an island experience. The restaurant is open Monday to Sunday from 5pm for drinks – meals are served from 6:30pm.

Bookings are essential. Call 021 424 5306 to make yours.
