Absa Cape Epic mountain biker hits a buck Posted by Tyson Jopson on 19 March 2013 What is it with mountain bikes and bucks? Last year (you’ll remember, surely) a red hartebeest took out cyclist Evan van der Spuy of Team Jeep South Africa during a race at Albert Falls Dam (here’s the video for those of you who missed it: Mountain biker gets taken out by a buck). Well, it’s happened again. This time, Robert Mennen of Team Topeak Ergon hit a buck during Stage 1 of the Absa Cape Epic in Citrusdal. Sure, it wasn’t a massive red hartebees but the blow broke Mennen’s collarbone and ruled his team out of the Epic. Happens. So. Fast.
