Travel tour operator Contiki has identified the need to include more of Africa into their product offering.
The company has been providing travel adventures for 18 to 35-year-olds since 1962 and after much research has opted to give the growing market of young adventurers a chance to explore the continent, in a way that hasn’t been offered before.
Although Contiki tours already include Morocco and Egypt, there is a strong need to delve into the culture and offerings in South Africa, Tanzania, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Kenya. Five extension trips will give travellers a chance to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, relax on the beaches in Zanzibar or interact with gorillas in Uganda.
There are several options to choose from, including safari lodges, luxury safari tents or hotels.
Primarily used for young group travel trips across Europe, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, Asia and North America, Africa marks their first new region since 2010 when they launched in Latin America.

Travellers have the choice of enjoying safari trips to spo the Big Five in the Kruger National Park or witness the migration of the wildebeest in the Serengeti. Victoria Falls has also made the cut, giving youngsters a chance to tick one of Seven Natural Wonders of the World off their ‘must-do list’.
Adventures like hippo-spotting on the Chobe River, or exploring the Cape Winelands also form part of the packages.
Contiki plan on putting together itineraries for 20 passengers per trip, which will give groups an intimate excursion into Southern Africa. It also means swopping large coach travel for safari vehicles across Eastern Africa and then using luxury mini buses in South Africa.
Although much of the touring is done on land, Contiki will make use of flights between Cape Town and Johannesburg and also between Johannesburg and Victoria Falls to give travellers more time to explore destinations at leisure.
