In photos: traversing through Thailand

Posted by Kristin Bredenkamp on 23 December 2014

On a recent trip to the north and south of Thailand I was lucky enough to experience some of the magic this country holds. Beyond its serene tourist attractions lies a deeper connection and my friend Svenja Delicio and I were drawn to these less touristic destinations.

What we found were photogenic landscapes, where the people we engaged with displayed sincere gentleness and happiness. If the traveller inside your heart feels inspired, I hope you too can venture forth and find adventure. Here are some of the images that spoke to me.

Gold shimmers off the shore on the island of Koh Jum.

Gold shimmers off the shore as the sun sets on the island of Koh Jum. Situated off the coast of Krabi, this island is one less travelled.

Phra Nang Beach

Seen here is Phra Nang Beach caressed by majestic lime stone mountains – a destination for splendid photographs. A rugged long-tail boat floats in the crystal clear warm water, one form of transportation common amongst locals and tourists.

The Taling Chan Floating Market in Bangkok

A Thai woman smiles as she sells her sweet mangoes to tourists. The Taling Chan Floating Market in Bangkok brings forth a colourful array of vegetables, fruits, merchandise and smiles.

Lake house floats on the Cheow Man lake in the Khao Sok National Park

Surrounded by the oldest evergreen rainforest, the isolated lake house floats on the Cheow Man lake in the Khao Sok National Park. Faint sounds of monkeys are heard echoing in the distance.

Faith is an important part of the Thai culture. At the top of Nakkerd Hills in Phuket, the Big Buddha sits peacefully watching over the landscape.

Koh Khai island colourful fish

Snorkelling and swimming is a popular activity in the Andaman Sea. Along the shore of Koh Khai island colourful fish come in masses, while tourists lure them closer with pieces of bread.

Pristine beaches in Phuket

Dramatic clouds present a distinguished light that open the eyes of a travellers soul on one of the pristine beaches in Phuket. Thailand pulls on heart strings and will for many years to come.
