Photoblog: holidaying on Mozambique’s Ibo Island

Posted by Claudia Hodkinson on 8 September 2014

Ibo Island in the Quirimbas, Mozambique is a magical place: full of beauty, forgotten secrets and a people that welcomed me in with their local cuisine, rich history and friendly hospitality. I was lucky enough to visit Ibo Island for a feature in our September 2014 issue: here’s a glimpse into this gorgeous holiday destination.

The eight-day dhow and lodge safari was a great way to combine a little luxury with the adventure of a camping safari. After a few days at the lodge, we sailed by dhow to explore the many little islands dotted along the coast.

Photography is one of my passions, and the island served up limitless opportunities to capture a piece of this Indian Ocean island. Here are a couple of photographs from this awesome holiday.

camping,

Sometimes, camping doesn’t have to mean roughing it. This is one of those times. Photo by Claudia Hodkinson.
