My mom’s famous chocolate chip cookies

The power of the chocolate chip cookie never fails to amuse me. It unravels people wherever it goes. This particular recipe has been tried and tested by my mom and me many times over. If you use the recommended amount of chocolate (A LOT) you will get a piece of chocolate deliciousness with every bite!

Bake this recipe and feel free to share if you need forgiveness of any kind or if you simply want to prove to the staunch Atkins dieter that we really ARE meant to eat carbohydrates. If you don’t want to share that’s ok too.

What you need:

  • 250g soft butter
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 5ml vanilla essence
  • 2 ½ cups flour
  • 5ml salt
  • 5ml baking powder
  • 2 x 200g slabs chocolate cut into small pieces. (use whatever chocolate you prefer – I like to use Top Deck)

The method to the deliciousness:

  1. Mix butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla.
  2. Add dry ingredients, except chocolate, and mix well.
  3. Lastly add chocolate.
  4. Drop teaspoonfuls onto greased baking tray and bake at 190 °C for 8-10 minutes.

Note: If you like them on the crunchier side, then bake at slightly lower temperature for a bit longer.
